The Story Behind WicksNWax

The Story Behind WicksNWax

Every candle has a story.

Ours begins in 2020.

Like many families during the uncertainty of the pandemic, we found ourselves looking for something positive to build. What started as curiosity quickly became a passion. We began experimenting with wax, fragrances, wicks, and containers—not because we wanted to start a business, but because we genuinely enjoyed creating something with our own hands.

Neither of us imagined that a hobby on our kitchen table would one day become a small business serving customers throughout Florida. We simply wanted to make candles we would be proud to burn in our own home.

That hobby slowly transformed into WicksNWax.

In the early days, we became known for giving discarded champagne bottles a second life as handcrafted candles. Each bottle was carefully cut, polished, cleaned, and poured by hand. It wasn't the fastest way to make a candle, but it reflected what mattered to us: craftsmanship, sustainability, and creating something worth keeping.

As WicksNWax grew, so did our vision.

Today we've transitioned to beautiful containers made from 100% recycled glass. They allow us to maintain our commitment to sustainability while creating a cleaner, more consistent product that customers can enjoy in every room of their home.

Every candle is still poured in small batches by us in Bradenton, Florida.

Nothing is mass-produced. Every fragrance is carefully selected, every wick is tested, and every candle is inspected before it ever reaches a customer. We spend countless hours testing burn performance because we believe a candle should do more than smell good on the shelf—it should perform beautifully from the first light to the last.

You'll find many of our fragrances inspired by Florida's Gulf Coast, while others capture holidays, favorite destinations, comforting foods, and the little moments that make life memorable. We don't just try to make a candle that smells good—we try to create a scent that reminds you of somewhere, someone, or something worth remembering.

Community is everything.

Most weekends you'll find us at local markets, meeting customers face-to-face. Those conversations have shaped WicksNWax just as much as anything we've done in the workshop. We've watched customers become regulars, regulars become friends, and friends introduce us to new customers. That sense of community is something we'll never take for granted.

We're still a family business.

We still pour every candle ourselves.

We still believe that quality, honesty, and craftsmanship never go out of style.

Thank you for allowing us to become a small part of your home and your memories.

Life's Short. Smell Good.
